Partners in Platony by Alice Knight

Alice Knight is a Sydney-based artist who engages with various mediums, including photo media, video, and painting. While currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the National Art School, Alice engages in a personal practice that extends beyond her study. Her work typically engages in themes of companionship, connectivity, and performance in the everyday.
To have a hand to hold, to hold a heart alongside one’s own. Romance isn’t dead. We can find it in pockets of borrowed clothes that we wear as armour. Or else in shared memories from long ago that are retold and rewritten in the stillness of a sleepover morning. Together, or apart. Upside down and inside out. A somebody to grow with and change and chop hair and chat to (fast, or slow). Platonic intimacy keeps the world turning. While the world is burning, feeing, learning; togetherness is survival.
